Maasberg in Overloon, Netherlands by UArchitects -Simple Stunning Architecture 16

Maasberg 1Maasberg 2
Maasberg in Overloon, Netherlands design by UArchitects is not like any juvenile detention institution. It is a new place with more intensive interaction with the surrounding nature where the resoluteness of the world which aims at the interior is partly removed, so that the youngsters can prepare themselves for their return in society.

The concept aims at an open, transparent building between the closed prison and the outside world. Visitors can throw a glance at the prison life and the youngsters can look at the outside world, the society in which they will return later on.

By means of the light appearance and the placement on metal feet in the woodland soil, the volume seems to float in the wood. Because of the layered façade in steel, aluminium and Bankirai the building will be merged in the surrounding woodland scenery, showing different shades of grey.

The appearance and the rhythmic of the carefully detailed elements of the façade assume a respectful dialogue between environment and the youngsters.

The Mill House by Gert Wingardh from Wingardh Arkitektkontor

The Mill House 1The Mill House 2
The Mill House designed by Gert Wingardh from Wingardh Arkitektkontor is not only a family vacation house but it is a manifestation of the Swedish ritual of sauna and bathing. Own by a family from the nearby city of Malmo, this serene place surrounded by nature is a part of a large old farm in the coutryside of southern Sweden. Wingardh built a small pool which involved excellence carpentry works, adjacent to the sauna to make up for the the traditional rite of Swedish sauna dip in an old stream after bathing together. There's a creek on the property but it was insufficient for the purpose.
